Geography & Climate
This landlocked nation shares borders with Tibet (China) to the north and India to the south, east, and west. Its terrain ranges dramatically from subtropical plains in the south to subalpine Himalayan heights in the north, where peaks exceed 7,000 meters (23,000 feet).
The climate varies significantly with altitude. Southern Bhutan is tropical, central valleys enjoy temperate seasons, and the north experiences harsh, cold winters. The best times to visit are generally spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) for pleasant weather and clear mountain views.
